Advice

Be passionate about something. When you come on your interview, the Admissions officers can tell if you're talking about what you think they want to hear, as opposed to talking about something that excites you. At Feinberg, we want passionate students that will contribute to the school culture, academia, and greater medical community.

Life in Chicago

Chicago is awesomeness (that is, if you like culture, food, dancing and music, and free concerts and beaches with beautiful city skylines in the backdrop). And of course, there's the winter, which can be daunting if you try to hide from it. My advice, embrace it! Dress warmly, knowing that it's going to be cold, but that shouldn't stop you from having fun (a lot of different kind of fun and free stuff is available all winter long, but most people are too afraid of the cold to capitalize on it).

Why Feinberg?

I chose Feinberg, first because it's in the same area as my wife's medical school (Loyola). Out of the other wonderful Chicago medical schools, Feinberg stood out to me because of its excellent orthopoedic program. I also met a few M4s that exuded unmatched confidence in prospects for residency that they attributed to the training they received here at Feinberg.

Classmates

Classmates are diverse (well, more diverse than some places I've seen) and helpful. It's a very cooperative environment. The Admissions office invests in quality students that have a team-building mentality. I am big on study groups, and have several different groups that I meet with for varying supportive academic reasons.

Career Goals

Sports medicine (probably orthopoedics, maybe trauma). I chose medicine to restore motion.  I love movement and know what it feels like to have that ability taken away. I want to help people regain motion and function.

Involvement inside and outside of school

Way too involved, so just going to list: recruitment, tour guiding, society representative, Dance Interest Group, In Vivo (sketch comedy performance), Fusion Cultural Show, Sports Medicine Interest Group, put on workouts for students, mentoring (HPREP and beyond), Church Ministry (Salem Baptist Church of Chicago on the South Side), TPAN (Fundraising event for AIDS research, therapy, and awareness).
